KEY PERSONNEL

 Douglas R. Whitaker, Principal

Mr. Whitaker has extensive experience in directing environmental survey and assessment projects for large properties and multi-building facilities. He investigates a wide array of environmental issues as part of forensic investigations for insurance losses and environmental litigation. Mr. Whitaker has managed loss investigations pertaining to fires, explosions, equipment failures, hurricanes and flood damage. These losses have involved a variety of contaminates such as asbestos, lead, hazardous chemicals, PCBs, and microbials. Mr. Whitaker has managed projects for The Home Insurance Company, Continental Insurance, Douglas G. Peterson & Associates, GAB Business Services, Mutual Inland Marine Office and American International Group.

Henry "Bub" Uhlig, Manager, Principal

Mr. Uhlig directs the work of project managers, technicians and draftsmen in providing engineering services and project management for asbestos, lead, underground storage tanks and other environmental remediation projects. He was one of the key authors of the National Institute of Building Sciences' (NIBS) Model Guide Specification for Asbestos Abatement & Management. In addition, he recently designed an innovative approach to a three-year lead-based paint abatement project that received national recognition. Mr. Uhlig also oversees the design and preparation of contract documents and cost estimates for demolition, rehabilitation and renovation projects. Mr. Uhlig has managed projects for ITT Hartford, JC Penney Company, Blair Corporation, New York Stock Exchange, Albany VA Medical Center, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Palm Beach County, Florida, The Home Insurance Company, Continental Insurance and Douglas G. Peterson & Associates.

Patrick J. McDonough, Principal

Mr. McDonough brings twenty-five years of corporate and financial management experience to ENTEK. As ENTEK's General Manager and Chief Fiscal Officer, Mr. McDonough provides input on all company financial, technical and human resource decisions. Mr. McDonough directly supervises the day to day fiscal responsibilities of ENTEK. He interfaces with banking and lending institutions in negotiating lines of credit and capital projects on ENTEK's behalf. Mr. McDonough oversees the yearly audit of the company financial documents and interacts closely with the Board of Directors on corporate financial policy.

On the technical side, he takes an active role in marketing ENTEK services: meeting clients, discussing their needs, providing project review and oversight to ensure client satisfaction. His financial expertise compliments the technical abilities of his colleagues. His expertise in linking financial elements with a specialized scope of work has proven invaluable during project estimating, budgeting, forecasting and cost analysis. Mr. McDonough regularly interacts with his colleagues regarding assignments and acceptable completion of projects. His cost analyses and evaluations have assisted in the successful negotiation of insurance and litigation losses. As a former school board member, Mr. McDonough provides understands the special needs of public and private schools and provides insights on funding for capitol improvements, assisting our clients with funding alternatives.

Russell E. Weisberg, Senior Project Manager

Mr. Weisberg is responsible for the management of a variety of environmental and industrial hygiene projects at ENTEK, including project management of ENTEK's long-term, high profile projects, typically requiring remote field offices and staff. He has managed ENTEK field offices in Palm Beach, FL; Hartford, CT; San Francisco, CA and Brussels, Belgium during long term projects that required temporary personnel and continuous on-site management. Mr. Weisberg was part of the Entek team that designs an innovative glove bag technique that saved a European client 3 million dollars in renovation costs. This project, in Brussels, required training of the foreign workers in specialized abatement techniques and interface European regulatory agencies.

Mr. Weisberg supervises and directs field technicians performing facility surveys, building material sampling and project air monitoring during environmental remediation projects. He generates remediation specifications and the bidding documents. Mr. Weisberg's major clients include The Hartford Fire Insurance Company, ITT Sheraton Brussels, General Services Administration, Yale University, RM Kliment & Francis Halsband Architects, Uniondale Union Free School District, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, City Hospital Center at Elmhurst, NY, and 475 Sansome Street (San Francisco).

Michele A. Meyer, REPA, Project Manager

Ms. Meyer is a Registered Environmental Property Assessor. She is an expert in the area of facility/site environmental assessment and has managed environmental projects throughout the United States at industrial parks, high rise buildings, shopping malls, commercial businesses, hospitals and schools. Ms. Meyer assists clients in the recognition and maintenance of environmental and safety hazards such as asbestos-containing materials, lead-based paint, petroleum products, chemicals, confined spaces, indoor air contaminates respiratory protection, and hazardous materials. Ms. Meyer delivers numerous training classes to assist building owners comply with OSHA standards and educate their staff regarding potential hazards in their workplace. Ms. Meyer is an ASTM member and on the committee which has established national standards for environmental site assessments.

Ms. Meyer manages our Product and Medical Liability litigation projects. Ms. Meyer provides interface between ENTEK and our experts for affidavit preparation, depositions and trial testimony. Product liability cases typically involve extensive regulatory research, site visits, modeling, cost analysis, and report preparation performed by Entek. Personal liability cases involve the extraction of plaintiffs work histories, product identifications and the review of pertinent medical records under the direction of an Occupational Physician. Ms. Meyer has performed and managed environmental projects for hundreds of clients such as the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), J.C. Penney Company, Kingston City Schools, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, Palm Beach County, UBS Asset Management Corporation, and Yale University.

 

Frank Vooris, Project Manager

Mr. Vooris  As a member of the ENTEK national response team, Mr. Vooris is responsible for investigating a wide array of environmental losses following water and moisture intrusions, fires, equipment failures, and structural failures.   Mr. Vooris performs site inspections and assessments, reviews specification and drawings, performs contaminant sampling, investigates mechanical and structural conditions, and prepares reports and recommendations. As Project Manager at ENTEK, Mr. Vooris is responsible for the management of a project, including budgeting, determining the scope of work, client interface, scheduling, directing the field technicians, interpreting analytical results, and maintaining client relations. 

 

For 10 years prior to coming to ENTEK, Mr. Vooris was Manager of Facilities, Manufacturing Engineering and Research and Development at a company that manufactured high quality musical instruments.  His responsibilities included performing design engineering, preparing and interpreting specifications and blueprints for new product fabrication.  He established tooling necessary to support manufacturing.  Mr. Vooris served as Manager of the facility.  He directed budgeting for specific projects and was responsible for hiring and training of employees for various technical positions.    Mr. Vooris’ responsibilities also included the maintenance of complicated heating and air conditioning units, managing of plant security, coordinating of regulations and standards related to New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, New York City Department of Environmental Protection and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration.   Mr. Vooris Interfaced with vendors both foreign and domestic.

 

Robert DeRuyter, Project Manager

Mr. DeRuyter  As a member of the ENTEK national response team, Mr. DeRuyter is responsible for investigating a wide array of environmental losses following water and moisture intrusions, fires, equipment failures, and structural failures.   Mr. DeRuyter performs site inspections and assessments, reviews specification and drawings, performs contaminant sampling, investigates mechanical and structural conditions, and prepares reports and recommendations. As Project Manager at ENTEK, Mr. DeRuyter is responsible for the management of a project, including budgeting, determining the scope of work, client interface, scheduling, directing the field technicians, interpreting analytical results, and maintaining client relations. In addition, Mr DeRuyter provides technical direction and computer assistance to ENTEK. This includes software development to assist ENTEK in efficiently gathering required data, photographs, and video's that are presented in client reports. 

 

Prior to coming to ENTEK, Mr. DeRuyter was responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of site Direct Digital Control (DDC) Systems, site air filter replacement contracts, and maintenance of site variable pitch fans. Mr. DeRuyter responsibilities included the DDC systems required coordination of site shutdowns and multiple contractors to facilitate the conversion to computer control, initial design, budgeting, presentations, mechanical troubleshooting, programming changes, and debugging. Mr. DeRuyter was the lead technical project manager for the world wide deployment of a web based reporting system and provided much of the programming and web development, other programming assignments including the Y2K conversion, the installation and maintenance of a database front end and also 24 X 7 coverage of a worldwide order processing system.

Robert N. Sawyer, MD, Industrial and Preventative Medicine Consultant

Robert N. Sawyer, MD, FACPM is one of the world's leading experts on occupational medicine, industrial hygiene and safety issues. As former head of the Yale University Department of Preventive and Occupational Medicine, Dr. Sawyer led the nation's first asbestos abatement under maximum personal protection. Dr. Sawyer serves as technical advisor to many prominent organizations including the EPA and the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS). He has extensive experience in developing toxic material control and personal protection programs. Dr. Sawyer provides expert witness services to numerous private and industrial clients on a variety of occupational health and safety issues.
